Lyrics for Church On the Moon by Deitrick Haddon. Today is a celebration When we live to see the church reach new heights We dedicate this new territory. To God, we have, lift off There's no gravity between you and me Let's go to a place where there's no time or space And the Holy Spirit has got me so high Ooh, this must be what Heaven is like.
The concert is a celebration for Flint native Telishia Berry's first novel, 'The Baptist Junkie.' The book, which is set in 1968, tells the story a sixteen year-old girl who is rejected by her family, the church, and her baby's father after an unexpected pregnancy. Berry, who has also written several gospel musical plays, enlisted an all-star cast of Michigan gospel acts to perform at her book release concert. Even though she moved to Los Angeles to support her son's acting career (her son, Kendre Berry, played Jabari on the hit show 'Girlfriends'), she wanted to pay homage to her hometown with the book release. 'I have lived in California for more than ten years busy being a stage mom,' she said in a statement.
